THE OLD JOKERS
The Old Jokers have been in existence for in excess of 20 years, way before the "trendy" Golden Oldies cult began. The OJ's have been touring New South Wales as an end of season week-end and have visited many exotic places, such as Dubbo, Coffs Harbour, Wagga, Armidale, Tamworth, Newcastle, Singleton, Canberra, Bathurst and Orange to engage fellow "over 35's" in a bout of rugby, singing and drinking (although not in that order). The Old Jokers are traditionally accompanied by invited "Bag Boys" from within the Club. The Bag Boys are a mob of under 35 current players and are not to be trusted. Bag Boys have the most solemn duty to look after all things to do with their "master" over the week-end. Nothing is sacred! Bag Boys are required to carry bags, arrange meals and drinks, look after accommodation or what ever their master requests. He cannot refuse under pain of a most severe penalty. The Grand Poobah is the head of the Old Jokers (and is sometimes the oldest Joker but not always). The Poobah cannot be sacked, voted out or opposed, although he can step down from office. The current Poobah is Paul Parkinson.
The Old Jokers tour at the end of each season, usually in early October.Anybody interested in playing Old Jokers Rugby please email Paul at
